A supervisor training course is fast becoming a requirement by not only our employers but our clients as well. We are in the process of investigating what courses are available and will facilitate such a course at Local 894. Anyone interested should please call the office and register as we will schedule a course in the very near future.
The next meeting will take place at Local 894, 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 7, 2010. The meeting will focus on the Next-Gen initiative that was launched at the All Canada Progress Meeting (ACPM) in Saskatoon. This meeting will focus on the new journeypersons and all apprentices and will discuss issues relevant toward the younger/newer members and strengthen our union as a whole. E-Board member Dave Bonser attended a youth conference at the ACPM and will be in attendance to share many of the highlights and initiatives of the ACPM.
If you have some spare time in the evenings, perhaps an hour or two, to help out with our political committee canvassing for our union friendly councilors in your area please contact Terry Dorgan at 705-875-2595. Please remember if you want our politicians to help us, it is a two way street and believe me they pay attention and know who their friends are when the time comes and they must vote on an issue which may determine if a project goes non union or union.
